Matchgirls’ Strike Bow Church Print

The Bryant & May Match Factory was in Bow in East London. In 1888 poor pay, severe health problems and poor working conditions led to the workers going on strike.

This image mixes the old with the new and features the modern station and flats as a backdrop to the strikes.
